Southwest creative growth agency, Bigwave Marketing, has announced the return of the Plymouth Bigwave Business Games. The business community event was put on hold during the pandemic but will make its return in September 2023.
The event aims to bring local Plymouth businesses together to socialise, network and participate in a range of exciting physical, mental, and social activities. At the core of the event is a fundraising ethos, and each team helps to raise money for local charities.
The events will take place between September and November of 2023 across a range of Plymouth City locations and will raise money for YMCA Plymouth. The charity works to provide educational, health and emotional support to the young community and families of Plymouth.
YMCA Plymouth offers countless vital services to the Plymouth community including mental health counselling, disability support and tailored accessible groups, housing support and education and training for young people as well as countless other critical services for the vulnerable youth of the Plymouth community, and the money raised by the Bigwave Business games will go to helping these children, teens, young adults and families.
YMCA Plymouth CEO, Tom Lavis, said “We are hugely excited and grateful to be partnering with Bigwave for this year’s Business Games. As a local charity, the support of these games will make a big difference to the lives of local people.”
“Whether that’s by helping us put more meals on the table through our food poverty work, enabling us to deliver more mental health support for vulnerable young people, or providing health & wellbeing services for people with medical needs – the games will help make all this and much more vital work possible.”
The team-driven activities include events such as a treasure hunt, golf, tennis, the Inflatable Olympics, Clip-n-climb and a traditional pub quiz. The mixture of mental, physical, and social challenges gets workers working as a team in an entirely different way. The event ends with an awards ceremony where just one business is crowned the winner of the competition.
