Creatives, designers and writers are being asked to rise to the challenge and create a blueprint for the future of creativity in Torbay.
To support the growth of the Creative Sector in Torbay, Creatives are calling for a “space” to call their own; to work, collaborate, co-create, present and meet with like-minded individuals.
The creative industry is the second largest sector in the UK. It the fastest growing sector with the most young people wanting to join it. As a sector it offers year-round work and represents a high growth opportunity to support education and employment in the Bay.
Creatives working in Torbay are invited to have their say on what they need at a special hackathon event on July 10 from 5pm to 7pm at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Torwood Street, Torquay.
The event has been brought together through collaboration between The Creative Universe and Bigwave Marketing working with Studio Zao as part of Impact Torbay which aims to create new commercial opportunities and solve challenges through innovation. Hampton by Hilton, Torquay have supported the collaboration by sponsoring and hosting the event.
Liz Mackie, founder of the Creatives Universe, a platform for Creatives, said: “We are keen to understand what individuals and businesses in this sector would like from a collaborative space in the Bay. We hope that the Hackathon might help us to articulate what that space might look like in terms of supporting creative businesses.”
The event is a chance to be part of creating a fun, exciting space which supports and celebrates creatives across Torbay. The evening promises an engaging opportunity to meet and network, followed by mind mapping, hacking and ideation to consider a range of solutions and outputs.
Simon Beer, Managing Director of marketing agency Bigwave Marketing said: “There is great potential to create a thriving creative sector in the Bay. We want to support education and employment opportunities so that people can learn, work and live in the Bay. Everything we’ve heard from those already in the sector is that a local creative hub could support this.”
The event is free to attend, and interested parties can register via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-torbay-creatives-hackathon-tickets-912084056967?
