The goal
Launching a new retail concept for the winter season, Calendar Club approached Bigwave to help design a bespoke stand selling scooters from Zinc, the UK’s number-one scooter brand.
Opening between October half term to the end of December – these seasonal pop up shops only have a short time to make an impact and sell their products. The assembly team arrive on site, assemble and have them trading by the next morning.
Transportation and assembly are top priorities. However the shopping center sites require high-quality, safe structures to meet expectations and site requirements.

Our Solution
The first job was drawing up a design for the retail units. Balancing requirements for portability, speed of assembly and quality of finish meant this was no easy task.
Matte black MFC board was chosen as the construction material. The chipboard core of this material made it easy to work and cut to shape, while the matte black outer coating would provide a high-quality, durable finish able to withstand the rigours of a retail environment.
Graphics were applied to the units as full-colour vinyl wraps. This ensured the graphics would be hard-wearing, while delivering an eye-catching finish which was guaranteed to stand out in a retail space.

The final product
Each stand was designed to visually reflect the retail box designs of its relevant scooter packaging. When placed together the shifts in colour and angled display created a dynamic and exciting retail space – standing out in the middle of a very busy shopping centre.
Alongside the individual units, Bigwave also created a looping animation to be played on large TV screens either side of the stand. Designed with constant movement, this video served to brand the store, showcase the products, and draw the eye of customers with eye catching transitions and changes in colour and motion.
