The goal
LeisureSK’s membership app had initially been set up as a simple booking platform a number of years ago. Over this time the user interface had never been updated – and advances in mobile design had left their offering looking outdated. They needed a refreshed app which modernised the interface, introduced new functionality and put their colourful, energetic brand front-and-centre.
Bigwave Marketing have partnered with LeisureSK for a number of years to deliver marketing and campaign solutions. This, coupled with our specialist knowledge of Innovatise-based membership apps, meant we were ideally placed to deliver on LeisureSK’s objectives.

Our Solution
The first task was to make the user experience more efficient – giving members a simplified interface which prioritised more common actions. We accomplished this with prominent buttons, and breaking the page up into ‘action blocks’ which make sense to the user.
In order of prominence the action blocks were organised into:
- Primary actions – Booking activities, checking timetables, and managing bookings.
- Engagement and promotion – Memberships, referral programmes and rewards.
- Information and external actions – Workout apps, links to social and contact info.
The most important buttons utilise LeisureSK’s distinctive brand gradient. Large images, blocks of colour and graphical elements from LeisureSK’s brand overlap the action blocks, serving to mask the segmented layout and present a sense of seamless flow to the page.

The Results
The reddesign went live in June 2025. Over the following months visits to the app booking page increased by over 28% – with class booking clicks increasing by over 23%. The membership section, which links through to LeisureSK’s sign ups, saw rise in visitors of over 377%*.
Since launching the app, the new design has also made it easier to update the layout when adding promotions or updates. For example, when Grantham Mere’s Leisure Centre added the TRAKK app to it’s membership offering, we were able to add a new button to the home screen without disrupting the design.
