The goal

Our Website Development team worked alongside Halo Leisure to design and build them a brand-new website with two main goals:

  1. Improve the user experience by ensuring all areas of the website are easily accessible.
  2. Significantly improve the process to edit the website by moving to a WordPress CMS.

Our Solution

A revitalised design has created a visually impactful site whilst also following brand guidelines. The use of the key colour palette throughout makes this site uniquely Halo’s. Structured templates for centre and activity pages provide a clean and consistent user experience, with key information such as opening times, and accessibility, easy to locate.

A brand-new membership page integrated with Legend displays dynamic pricing, resulting in one single price change within the Legend system, which is then reflected on the site. Users can either choose to find out more, or purchase a membership. Those who choose to join will go through to the online joining system, where the membership details are automatically populated with the relevant information, significantly improving the user journey.

A structured WordPress CMS will provide Halo Leisure with a more enjoyable editing experience and enable them to pull content dynamically across the site. This will contribute to improving admin time spent updating the website.

Here's what Halo Leisure had to say about working with us.

After a robust tendering process, Bigwave was selected as the partner to design and build the new Halo website. From the beginning the communication, updates and overall project management from Bigwave was outstanding. A dedicated project team with Halo staff and Bigwave specialists met every frequently to review progress and reduce the risk of ‘project drift’.

With over 400 pages, at times the task felt overwhelming but Bigwave was there every step of the way. The Halo team felt very supported throughout through ongoing advice and specialist input. In between project meetings, we really felt that we could pick up the phone or arrange an online meeting at any time to discuss new developments. The work they did with our timetable provider to ensure that timetables were user friendly and supported guest and member booking was another example of them going above and beyond! Not only did they provide the technical skills but they advised on content, copy, tone, images, navigation, flow , SEO- they really understood the Customer Journey and Experience that we wanted to deliver.

The Halo team received intensive in person training on the Content Management System which has brought a new skill set to the team and allows us to be self-sufficient and make changes to the site inhouse. The Bigwave developers were mindful of Halo’s ambition to diversify into new activities and geographical areas and the new website is future-proofed to facilitate this. The result of this wonderful partnership is an eye-catching effective online shop window for Halo Leisure – that is easy for the visitor to use and easy for the Halo team to keep up to date. It really was a pleasure working with the Bigwave team on this website project.
